When it’s time to upgrade your company’s IT assets, Corporate Express can help.
Rather than sending the equipment to landfill, Corporate Express offers a program to decommission legacy IT assets.
“As part of our total life-cycle management process (TLM), when we supply and install new IT assets for our customers, we usually
decommission the old ones, using the most secure and environmentally-responsible approach available today,” says Sam Elsha,
National and Strategic Accounts Manager - IT Solutions.
“Sure Data Destruction (SDD) is one of the most important things our customers ask for. We use a strict quality control process, and we offer a choice of data destruction services ranging from data shredding (the most advanced form of SDD available globally) to a three-pass data overwrite process via an enterprise level, industryaccredited, government and Defence-approved program. These processes can be applied to desktop, notebook, server and selected print devices.
“Proof of successful completion of data erasure can be provided through a consignment item summary, listing each item against a ‘certificate of destruction’.
“We would then remove any bar codes, stickers or any other identifying marks that can identify the previous owner.
“Assets that have commercial re-sale value (generally three year old assets) will be re-sold with all monies going back to our customers.
“If resale isn’t feasible – usually due to age or faults – we go through a disposal process. Each unit is disassembled down to plastic, glass, circuit boards, batteries; and precious metals for recycling in an environmentally-responsible way. “If requested, we can provide a report on each device, via a consolidated asset report detailing exactly how each piece of equipment was dealt with.
“Our TLM program ensures ‘zero landfill’ of legacy assets – which is good for the environment, and good for our customers’ corporate social responsibility programs,” says Sam. |
